Dentistry
Dentistry in pets is considered surgical procedure, as such all dental procedures are performed under general anesthesia and Pre-operative blood work is required.
*Pre-operative blood work is required to ensure your pet is healthy enough to undergo surgery and their body is able to properly process the necessary anesthesia.
If you feel that your pet is in need of dental care please schedule an appointment to facilitate an oral evaluation with the doctor.
Why Is Dentistry Important For Your Pet?
Poor oral hygiene in pets can lead to periodontal disease, which allows bacteria to enter your pet’s bloodstream. Once in the blood stream these bacteria can then travel to vital organs, causing inflammation and infections. Dental care is crucial for preventing serious health issues in pets, including kidney, liver, and heart disease. Bacteria from the mouth can travel via the blood stream to the kidneys, leading to infections that impair kidney function. Liver disease can result from bacterial infections that damage the liver over time. Heart disease can develop when oral bacteria settle on the heart valves, potentially causing endocarditis (infection of the heart valves). By maintaining proper dental hygiene through regular brushing and professional cleanings, pet owners can significantly reduce the risk of severe secondary health issues. Early intervention and prevention through dental care can help improve the lifespan and quality of life of your pet.

All dental procedures include the following services:
Sedated Full Mouth Exam – Sedated full mouth exams allow for the assessment of any oral abnormalities such as oral masses, gum disease, and tooth fractures.
Full Mouth Clean and Polish – Cleaning and polishing of all teeth.
Full Mouth Dental X-ray – It is estimated that over 85% of dental disease occurs below the gum line and can not be seen appreciated with the naked eye. A tooth root can be diseased while the crown (the visible part of the tooth) appears healthy. Dental X-Ray allows us to assess your pet’s dental health above and below the gum line, ensuring each dental procedure has the highest positive impact on your pet’s health.
Diseased tooth extraction – Tooth extraction is only performed if leaving a tooth would be detrimental to your pet’s health
*Price varies per tooth type and size.
Oral Laser Treatment – Oral laser treatments helps to decrease pain and inflammation as well as speed up recovery following tooth extractions. For more information on laser therapy treatments go to the Red Light Therapeutic Laser Treatment services tab.
Dental Reports – Each patient will be sent home with a dental report which includes a procedure summary and detailing your pet’s dental X-rays, any extractions needed, and home care instructions.
Oral Hygiene Kits – Each patient is discharged with an oral hygiene kit to enable you to aid in the daily upkeep of your pet’s oral health. Daily brushing slow the natural build up of dental tartar following your pet’s dental procedure, with the goal of limiting the number of anesthetized dental cleanings required over your pet’s lifetime.
